Meg is a muralist, painter, dancer ::: a creator. Born and raised in Minnesota, she quickly found her love for Mother Nature + all she has to offer through endless wandering in the grass, climbing in the trees, + flowing with waters. Meg has always allowed the weird + wonky to flow with her, always following the dancing leaves towards the best path. She graduated with a BFA in studio art from University of Minnesota – Duluth, and since, has used paint to merge her interest in the earthly patterns formed within nature paired with the energetic flow that comes with free form expression.
Her first collection of work in a gallery space; ‘Mushrooms Over Matter’ gave light to her new radical understanding of the magic within the human mind and within mushrooms. Meg’s later collections, ‘cashmere’ and ‘golden era’ have given way to her furthering the perception of her art practices created in the physical realm. Human perception of self has become an integrated part of the energetic art Meg creates. She continues to learn + understand that her creations are true silent echos in the loudest possible world.
As the artist flows, so does the art. The last year and a half so far has presented Meg with the various opportunities to nurture her passions + help her grow into the free form artist she’s becoming. With mother nature forever by her side and an open heart to what may come there are endless possibilities for the artistic path 3cho can take…
artist statement
I continue to create to hopefully bring closer to understanding how humans can help preserve the earth…
I believe our society has lost its grasp on the nature of our reality. For thousands of years, humans have been learning different ways to live by following nature’s guidance. Humans adapt to survive. Technology has molded us into a new way of survival. Many have fully integrated technologies into every part of daily life, without truly understanding the potential it has to fully engulf in place of our reality. Humans have become inherently disconnected from the deep rhythms of the earth and the wild whispers of the wind. What I create is a constant journey to rediscover and rekindle this lost bond, between human and nature, to unlock the dormant connections that lie deep within each of us and to explore ever-changing perceptions of humans.
To understand why there has been such an extreme detachment between humans and nature, is a reason I create. To understand why “western civilization” has forgotten the ancient natural way of life and is tolerating being controlled by the new way of survival, technology. I believe that art has the strength to push beyond all languages and offer a universal language through which each of us can explore our shared place within the natural world and understand the many perceptions we have of one another.
The old memories of being consumed by the overwhelming compelling vastness of nature has always piqued my curiosity, another reason I create. Through embracing the complexity of the stunning earth around us, we can begin to alter how we understand and see reality to eventually rekindle a once deep connection to the planet that will forever sustains us. Creating art opens doors to understanding the reality of the world and the places I find within myself.
Being in a society that seems to forever prioritize progress over mass preservation of the beautiful intricacy’s nature offers everyone, I like to believe my art can serve as a small reminder of the never changing value nature holds. I hope that through my energetic works of art, I can inspire more humans to alter their perceptions of self and to revive their own potent connection with nature.
In addition, my art helps link the gap between my physical self and my spiritual self. It allows me to embrace my body completely, enough to further the embrace of my psyche. This aids to complete the understanding of who I am, reality, and human awareness.
Art helps me investigate the idiocrasies of life.
I have so many questions and art only begin to answer them.
